The return
I haven't written any pearls of "wisdom" for quite a while. If I were to guess, my last blog entry was likely back in mid May, during the Giro d'Italia. From then on there has been a series of events that have led to this space becoming a vast wasteland of nothingness.
First was the trip to Italy/Corsica. Shortly after that, I crashed at the Tour de Grove NRC race and hurt my back, a problem that is a better but still bothersome. After the crash I simply became lazy, both on the bike and off. I ride a few times a week but without any focus and with the sole intent of just keeping my head above water, so to speak. The local racing schedule became very thin for the last month and my performances have been average at best. Frankly, I just haven't found much reason to spew any dribble onto the interwebs.
The road season is rapidly winding down now. Gateway Cup is this weekend and one final race in Edwardsville after that, and then the season is done. The end of the road season brings on cyclocross and renewed optimism that will surely be squashed within a couple races, but cyclocross is fun regardless.
This year cyclocross is starting even earlier with and with even more races. The current state of local CX is rather amazing. We don't have HUGE numbers like on the coasts but we can't ask for much more in terms of races to keep us busy until mid-December.
I will leave our escapades of last weekend for the next entry.
